County Forester

Position Objectives:

This is a fulltime position to provide professional forest management on lands administered by the County Land Department.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Typical duties and responsibilities include: forest regeneration, timber stand improvement, harvest management including timber sale
preparation and administration, forest inventory and other responsibilities as assigned by the Land Commissioner.

Minimum Requirements:

Education equivalent to a four year degree in Forestry from a SAF accredited forestry program, and forestry experience relative to the job duties.

Desirable Training and Experience:

The preferred applicant should possess a working knowledge of forest management, silviculture, wildlife management, principles of basic surveying, reforestation techniques, aerial photo interpretation, dendrology, forest insects and diseases, soil characteristics, practical computer knowledge and experience with GIS.
